I cried while reading this story when you first posted it, and I just cried as I read it again. I know Tony is crying now, too. What a wonderful tribute to Rosalia, Joe. Thank you.
I hope Tony will now take the money from that bank account and do with it something, anything -- whatever he thinks is most appropriate -- as a tribute to his mother.
And Joe, my thanks to you for this story, and everything else you write and the way you write it.
Joe, this made me cry. Truly an amazing piece of writing. I guess what we love about you Joe, is your humanity, that, and the fact that you are the best sports writer around.
Time and again I am rendered speechless by your work. You truly are one of the great writers of our day. Thank you.

Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteHow is it in the very next post you wonder if you are a writer?
Modesty must be tempered with honesty.
Just as great the second (or maybe third) time. Thanks!
